Hazardous Location Air Conditioners

Professional Grade Cooling for Hazardous Locations

Ice Qube has been manufacturing Hazardous Location Air Conditioners since 2003 and today Ice Qube offers an innovative full line of Surface Vertical Mount CID2  products ranging from 1000-20000 Btu/h (293-5961 Watts) of closed-loop cooling capacity certified equipment without a bulky and expensive NEMA 7 flameproof enclosure. This line is also available in Surface Vertical Mount Zone 2-CIZ2 ATEX/IECEx/Aex/UK CA with Atex EC-Type Examination Certificate and IECEx IECEx Certificate of Conformity certifications and Class I Zone 2 with AEx and EX certifications. Capacities range from 1000-20000 Btu/h (293-5961 Watts) of closed-loop cooling capacity. Ice Qube’s hazardous location air conditioners do not rely on a purge system to maintain certifications and run safely in a hazardous environment.

The Evolution (EV) Series air conditioners are more compact, light, and efficient than traditional hazardous location air conditioners with models up to 12,000 Btu/h of closed-loop cooling capacity that will fit on a 12” deep enclosure, and up to 20000 Btu/h of closed-loop cooling capacity on an 18” deep enclosure making this one of the most compact series on the market. The EV series operates up to an ambient temperature of 140°F/60°C in the harshest of environments, making it the industry standard worldwide.

Ice Qube’s Surface Vertical Mount Zone 1- ATEX/IECEx/UK CA hazardous air conditioners range 4000-12000 Btu/h (1172-3517 Watts) of closed-loop cooling capacity in vertical mount style.

Ice Qube’s hazardous location air conditioners all have the same features as our general-purpose line of air conditioners but with added protection to meet the certified requirements of UL, EAC, SASO, ATEX, and IECEx for the respective environments of Class I Division 2, Zone 2, and Zone 1 locations. These environments include process control systems for chemical, petrochemical, refining, field drilling, offshore drilling, and more.

Surface Vertical Mount CID2

Class I Division 2 is an area where explosive gases, vapors, or liquids are not present under normal operating conditions. In a Class I Division 2 area the gas, vapor, or liquids are only present under abnormal or unlikely conditions (a leak). Class I Division 2 Certifications that Ice Qube provides for our customers include UL, EAC, and SASO.

Surface Vertical Mount Zone 2-CIZ2 ATEX/IECEx/Aex/UK CA

Zone 2 and Class I Zone 2 is an area where explosive gases, vapors, or liquids are not present under normal operating conditions. In a Zone 2 area the gas, vapor, or liquids are only present under abnormal or unlikely conditions (a leak). Unwanted substances can only be present under 10 hours/year or 0-0.1% of the time to be considered a Zone 2 and/or Class I Zone 2 location. Zone 2 Certifications Class I Zone 2 Certifications that Ice Qube provides for our customers include ATEX, IEXEx, EAC, and SASO.

Surface Vertical Mount Zone 1- ATEX/IECEx/UK CA

Zone 1 is an area where explosive gases, vapors, or liquids are likely to exist under normal operating conditions. In a Zone 1 area, unwanted gases, vapors, or liquids can be present 10-1000 hours/year or 0.1-10% of the time. Zone 1 Certifications that Ice Qube provides for our customers include ATEX, IECEx, EAC, and SASO.

Closed-loop cooling is the process of taking heated air into the air conditioner, from the enclosure/application, by a powerful blower/fan where heat and moisture are removed as it passes through the air conditioner. The air is then recirculated back into the enclosure/application. This process of cooling maintains the NEMA and/or purged integrity of the enclosure/application.

*All of Ice Qube’s products are independent agency tested, listed, and/or certified. Before our products are sent out for testing at independent agencies, Ice Qube utilizes our multiple in-house testing chambers. Our in-house testing chambers ensure that all our products meet and/or exceed independent agency testing standards before independent agencies verify all testing.

Typically, other manufacturers of enclosure cooling systems send their standard air conditioners to be converted for hazardous location applications. However, the companies that do the conversion may have to make changes that can affect the efficiency of the original unit. Often, components are substituted or added that may influence the cooling capacity or useful life of the original system.

*Ice Qube hazardous location air conditioners are specifically designed, and factory built to insure product integrity, reliability, and safety. Ice Qube’s Hazardous Location Air Conditioners are built and engineered from the start for hazardous locations. Ice Qube does not repurpose general purpose air conditioners for hazardous location areas.

Remember to ask yourself if it's not an Ice Qube Hazardous Location Air Conditioner: WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THE UNIT SINCE THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER MAY NOT BE CERTIFIED TO REPAIR A CONVERTED UNIT?
